The Family Commission of the Diocese of
Chikmagalur conducted a two-day Marriage
Preparation Course (Pre-Cana) on 15th and 16th
September 2026 at Spoorthi Sadana, Chikmagalur.
A total of 26 participants attended the
programme in preparation for receiving the
Sacrament of Matrimony.
The course focused on helping the couples
understand marriage as a Sacred covenant,
Christian vocation, and lifelong commitment.
Sessions covered Christian marriage, Sacraments,
Canon law, communication, mutual understanding,
fidelity, forgiveness, responsible parenthood,
family prayer, and contemporary challenges in
family life. Priests, counselors, and lay
resource persons enriched the sessions through
practical inputs, discussions, and real-life
experiences.
The programme concluded with reflection and
interaction, encouraging the couples to place
Christ at the centre of their married life and
to build their future families on faith, love,
mutual respect, and prayer. The participants
responded positively and actively, making the
course a meaningful and fruitful pastoral
initiative of the Family Commission.
