Parish Feast of Our Lady of Nativity Church, Banakal

The Parish Feast of Our Lady of Nativity Church, Banakal, was celebrated with great devotion and joy on February 12, 2025. The event witnessed the participation of numerous devotees and faithful parishioners who gathered to honour Mother Mary and seek her intercession.

Solemn Celebrations

The feast evening began with the Holy Rosary at 4:30 PM, preparing the congregation spiritually for the celebrations. This was followed by the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration at 5:00 PM, presided over by Rev. Fr. Paul Melwyn D'Souza, Vicar Provincial of the Capuchins, Karnataka.

During the homily, Fr. Paul Melwyn D'Souza reflected on the vital role of a mother in a family and the sacrifices she makes. He emphasized that a mother's contribution to a family's spiritual journey mirrors Mother Mary's intercession with our Lord Jesus Christ. He drew attention to Mary's concern at the Wedding at Cana, highlighting its universal message, encouraging us to be attentive to the needs of those around us. His powerful message deeply moved the congregation, inspiring them to trust in God's providence and follow the merciful path of Mother Mary.

Procession and Conclusion

Following the Eucharistic celebration, a grand procession in honour of Our Lady took place through the streets of Banakal. Devotees fervently sang hymns and offered prayers, expressing their love and reverence for Mother Mary. The celebration concluded with Eucharistic Adoration and a special blessing, uniting the faithful in deep prayer and gratitude.

Special Initiatives

As part of the feast preparations, Rev. Fr. Prem Lawrence distributed candles to every household, symbolizing the light of Christ in each family. Special donors of the parish were also honored, reinforcing the unity and generosity of the parish community. The celebrations culminated in a fellowship supper at the church auditorium, bringing together parishioners, priests, guests, and devotees in a spirit of togetherness and joy.
